Girls Inc. Teens Advocate on Infant Mortality in DC, NYC and Nashville

During the month of March, Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga teens traveled to Washington, DC, New York City and Nashville to advocate for reducing the infant mortality rate in Hamilton County as part of the Governor’s Infant Mortality Public Awareness Campaign in Tennessee (I.M.P.A.C.T.). Meeting with Rep. Zach Wamp and staff from Senators Alexander, Corker and Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), the teens asked officials to support measures such as comprehensive reproductive education and pre-conception health care as the most effective ways to prevent infant mortality.Posted in After-school programs, IMPACT | Leave a Comment »
Girls Inc. Teens in DC and NYC

This week, Girls Inc. teens participating in the Infant Mortality Public Awareness Campaign in Tennessee (I.M.P.A.C.T.) are spending the week in Washington, D.C. and New York City to advocate for infant mortality awareness.
The teens met with Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker and Reps. Zach Wamp and Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), who serves on the House Subcommittee for Healthy Families and Communities. Yesterday, the teens toured the White House with Congressman Wamp and sat down with a Chattanooga Times Free Press Reporter.
